Robert Gagné discusses productivity challenges in Quebec and Canada at the PRPG lunch conference

On October 15, Robert Gagné, CIRANO Researcher and Fellow and Chair of the CIRANO Scientific Committee since May 2025, spoke as part of the Government-Oriented Research Program (PRPG), a CIRANO initiative designed to bridge academic research and public policy needs.

In his presentation, Mr. Gagné provided an in-depth analysis of the current state of productivity in Quebec and Canada. He highlighted the implications of low productivity levels for individuals and governments, particularly regarding economic growth, income, and the ability to fund public services.

He concluded by outlining several avenues for improving Quebec’s performance, emphasizing the importance of investing in innovation, skills development, and the dissemination of best practices across businesses.
